WARWICK CASTLE
Warwick Castle is over a thousand years old and is considered the finest medieval fort in England positioned by the side of the River Avon. The castle was built on the orders of William the Conqueror in 1068 as part of a defensive chain of castles established to maintain power in his new territories. The castle has been well maintained and contains various exhibitions and many attractions, from dungeons to the Royal Weekend Party of 1898. Marvel at the grandeur of the State Rooms and Great Hall. Visit the King Maker exhibition, a display related to the War of the Roses and climb some of the magnificent towers to view surrounding countryside. You can check out the armour collected over the centuries; feel the weight of a sword and see just how soldiers lived and died on the battlefield.
You can also take advantage of a TRACKS SPECIAL DEAL for a cheaper group entrance fee into the castle.

STRATFORD UPON AVON
Stratford Upon Avon is rich in culture and history and is at the centre of Shakespeare Country. Being one of the most popular tourist attractions outside London, you will find no fewer than 5 museums linked to Shakespeare. The main museum is Shakespeare's Birthplace, filled with Shakespeare memorabilia, including a portrait and furnishings of the writer's time. The property is a half-timbered structure, dating from the early 16th century. There are two other properties in town ~ New Place and Hall Croft. You can also visit Shakespeare's grave at the Holy Trinity Church. Outside Stratford is Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Mary Arden's Farm. You can take a Guide Friday tour, which is a hop on/off service that will take you past all 5 houses. Walking tours are also very popular. Visit the Stratford Butterfly Farm or take time to stroll along the River Avon, hire a boat or relax on a river cruise. Stratford town is beautiful with an abundance of traditional black and white timber framed buildings, many containing a wide variety of shops, restaurants and tearooms.

OXFORD

Enjoy the evening out in this vibrant student city with its plethora of old pubs and reasonably priced restaurants
Oxford is famous for its prestigious university, which is the oldest university in the English-speaking world (you can visit the various colleges although some charge entrance fees). Oxford is known as 'The City of Dreaming Spires' because of the harmonious architecture of the university buildings. You can appreciate the beauty of Oxford by taking in the view from Carfax Tower and taking in the sights on a bus tour or walking tour. Visit The Oxford Story which recreates student life throughout the years. Magdalen College, the site of William Morris's first workshop, Bodleian Library and the Ashmolean Museum are also well worth a visit.
One of the main Colleges to visit is Christ Church, founded in 1525, it has the largest quadrangle of any college. Visit Tom Tower, which houses the Great Tom, the 18,000 pound bell used in the past to sound curfew and the closing of the college gates. Visit Christ Church Cathedral which is England's smallest cathedral.

THE COTSWOLDS

Regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, Bourton-on-the-Water is built almost exclusively in warm yellow Cotswold stone, its architectural style such as dormer windows are typical of the Cotswolds. The village has 'something for everyone all year round' with an array of different museums as well as shops, resturants and inns. Here you can enjoy lunch and explore the village. Visit Birdland, a beautiful park and gardens containing over five hundred birds; the Perfumery Exhibition; Bourton Model Railway; Cotswold Pottery; Cotswold Motor Museum and The Model Village (a replica model village of Bourton on the Water). Why not end your day in the Cotswold with a traditional cream tea from one of the quaint little tea rooms!
