"Researching this I often felt we should be in a Witness Protection Programme..." - Brian
People have long sensed the high strangeness of London. That its streets, churches and monuments harbour dark secrets. Dark secrets enclosed in the very fabric and foundations of London. fabric and foundations that go down almost like geological strata - the Freemasons, the Templars, the Romans.
Dan Brown's best-selling novel drills right down into some of those regions: e.g., the, revelation that a circular church may encompass its own world - a world of legend, sorcery and witchcraft. Our "descent" into that that London takes us to places that loom large in Brown's novel. But we'll also lift other veils. Peer behind the myth and into the white-hot core of those who inherited the mantle of the Templars. Why should a 1960s mural by Jean Cocteau in a hidden London church link him with Leonardo da Vinci? And what really lies behind the layers of paint on the Virgin on the Rocks? Murder and intrigue are par for the course here - and in places there's something even more sinister - something to do with a live rail running right through the heart of our culture. Dangerous to touch.
