We depart London at 18.30 for the journey down to Portsmouth and our ferry for the overnight journey to Normandy. Enjoy the on board shopping and relax and enjoy a meal in the Cafe or self-service restaurant.
Saturday
On arrival in Normandy we travel to Bayeaux, famous for the Bayeaux Tapestry. This embroidered cloth tells the story of William The Conqueror's defeat of King Harold at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The most famous tapestry in the world is actually an embroidery on linen, depicting 58 scenes in eight colours. Next stop for the day is at the British Cemetery on the outskirts of Bayeaux. It is the largest British cemetery of the Second World War in France, both Allied and German soldiers are buried here. There are British, Australians, Pole, French, New Zealander, South African, Czechs, Italians, Russians, Germans and 1 unknown. We will then travel down the Normandy coast to the D Day beaches. At 06.30, 6 June the Allied soldiers began landing on the beaches, code named Utah, Omaha, Juno, Gold and Sword. We'll visit the American Cemetery and Omaha Beach plus the seaside resort of Arromanches-les-Bains. Here you can see the remains of one of the Mulberry Harbours and visit the D Day Museum which features maps, models, a cinema, photographs of the landings. After a full day's sightseeing we make our way to the hotel in Caen. Venture out tonight into the city centre for dinner at a local restaurant.
Sunday
We leave the hotel and travel back along the coast to visit Honfleur. A beautiful, old Normandy harbour town with lots of history and atmosphere. In the past Honfleur attracted artists such as Renoir and Cezanne. We then cross the Normandy Bridge, this massive bridge, which crosses the Seine, measures over 2,800 feet at it's longest sections and 1.3 miles in total. We travel through to Rouen. the ancient capital of Normandy, with its narrow, medieval streets lined with half-timbered houses The memory of Joan of Arc lingers on in the Old Market Place. It was here that she was burned at the stake in 1431. Nearby, is the beautiful cathedral with it's masterpieces of stained glass. Visit the local market, a chance to stock up on Camembert Cheese, Calvados the local apple brandy and pommeau the local cider. Stroll along Rue du Gros Horloge (The Street of the Great Clock) linking the Old Market Place with the Cathedral. The life and martyrdom of Joan Of Arc, France's national heroine is on display at the Joan Of Arc Museum. In a vaulted cellar are waxworks and commentary in four languages, depicting her life from Domremy, where she was born, to her burning at the stake on the square in Rouen. We will then travel onto Calais and our ferry to Dover and London.

All our trips* depart from Bressenden Place, which is a few minutes walk from Victoria Underground Station. All day trips depart at 9am unless otherwise stated.
*Times and departure points for London Walks are displayed on the walks pages of this website. They DO NOT depart from Bressenden Place at 9am.
*Weekend departure times vary and it is your responsibility to check the departure time for your trip, which is published on our website. Tracks cannot be held responsible for missed departures due to late arrival.
Online Discounts:
These only apply to tours booked and paid for online, they are not available over the telephone or by any other means of payment. They are for a limited period and limited number of seats. The offer can be withdrawn at any time.
To take up the offer you must always write the discounted price on the booking form. Failure to do so will result in full payment being taken.
Double Booking Special:
Our double booking special offer will save you £2 on the price of your second day trip. To take advantage of the offer, you need only complete one booking form. In the comments box at the bottom of the page you need to provide details of the second day trip you wish to book. Discount only applies when ONE PERSON is travelling on TWO DIFFERENT departures, NOT to two people travelling on the same departure.
General Booking Conditions:
All Day Trips: Once booked and paid for are non refundable nor transferable under any circumstances.
Weekend and Short Breaks: 50% cancellation charges if cancelled before 14 days of travel, if cancelled less than 14 days 100% cancellation charges. Transfers on weekend tours can be made up to 14 days prior to departure, subject to availability. A transfer fee of £20 per person will be charged.
Tracks cannot be held responsible for any costs, incurred due to the late arrival or departure of the coach.
Those booked on our weekend and short break tours are required to have travel insurance to cover them throughout the tour.
We reserve the right to alter the itineraries as required. On the rare occasion when we have insufficient numbers we reserve the right to withdraw the tour. All clients will be notified in advance and offered an alternative tour or full refund.
Those travelling on tours outside the United Kingdom are required to travel with their passports and any necessary visa. The issue of a travel visa is the sole responsibility of the client.
Complaints
Should you have a complaint during the tour, contact your tour manager and they will do their best to rectify your problem. If we cannot resolve your complaint at the time, you should make your complaint in writing and send it to us at Tracks Travel Limited, The Flots, Brookland, Romney Marsh, Kent, TN29 9TG, within 21 days of the end of the tour. We will be unable to deal with any complaints unless we receive details in writing in that time period.
